Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested five drug peddlers including wanted heroin suppliers in Anantnag, Baramulla and Ganderbal and recovering contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that one Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar alias Christian, and a resident of Nanil, Anantnag was arrested at Chechripora Bypass Crossing after contraband — apparently heroin-like substance — was recovered from his possession.
At Zero Morh Daragutlian (Uri) in Baramulla, five charas-like sticks wrapped in corn husk were recovered from the possession of Faisal Ahmed Khan of Daragutlian, who was also arrested.
In Ganderbal, police arrested three drug peddlers — Jahingir Ahmad Jan alias Jana of Treesa Safapora (driver of the vehicle), Junaid Zahoor Bhat of Waripora Safapora and Jahangir Ahmad Bhat resident of Batpora Safapora — along with contraband substance and seized their vehicle (JK01S-4877).
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, police said.
