Officials gave a detailed presentation regarding department-wise progress, beneficiary registration, enrolment status and awareness activities under the schemes.

The deputy commissioner reviewed targets and achievements recorded by different departments and stressed the need for intensified outreach efforts to ensure maximum coverage of eligible beneficiaries within stipulated timelines.

Akshay Labroo said the schemes are aimed at strengthening social security mechanisms and providing financial support to vulnerable sections of society.

He directed line departments to work in coordination with field staff and other agencies for conducting on-the-spot registrations of left-out eligible beneficiaries across the district.

Regarding implementation of the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons, the deputy commissioner directed the General Manager District Industries Centre to begin implementation of the scheme in coordination with line departments and achieve substantial progress by June 10, 2026.

The meeting was attended by IAS Probationer Alfred Thomas, Joint Commissioner SMC Nuzhat Khurshid and officers from various departments including tourism, education, agriculture, horticulture, labour, employment, fisheries, health, handicrafts and animal husbandry.
