The teams inspected 14 establishments, including Government Residential Quarters Sempora, Pampore, TRC Srinagar and several hotel accommodations hired for lodging employees.

During the inspections, Food Business Operators engaged by the Estates Department were directed to strictly follow provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act and related regulations.

Inspection teams stressed maintenance of hygiene and sanitation standards prescribed under Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations.

The operators were also instructed to ensure compliance with standards laid down under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Officials directed all food business operators to provide fresh and hygienic meals to employees and strictly avoid use of synthetic food colours or unsafe ingredients in food items.

The teams also sensitised operators regarding safe food handling practices, cleanliness of kitchens, proper storage of raw materials and maintenance of personal hygiene by food handlers.

The Food Safety Department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring safe and quality food for employees staying in government accommodations during the move period.

Officials said inspection drives will continue across various locations in the coming days to monitor compliance and enforce food safety regulations effectively.
