New Delhi: The Gauri Kaul Foundation has been honoured with the ‘Best NGO in Healthcare and Heart Disease’ award for its work in expanding cardiac care access across Jammu and Kashmir, a statement said on Sunday.
The award was conferred by the Integrated Global Health Care Mission in association with the Advanced Media Group and the Medgate Today magazine.
GKF Director Dr Priyadarshini received the award, the statement said.
Founded in 2021 under the leadership of noted cardiologist Upendra Kaul, the foundation started by organising cardiac screening camps across several districts in Kashmir during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This honour has been made possible by the relentless joint efforts that began during the dark days of Covid and continued unabated since then,” Kaul said.
The organisation currently runs two day-care centres for cardiac evaluation and management, including one in a remote area in Pulwama district aimed at serving the underserved rural population.
In 2025, the foundation partnered with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited to launch a ‘Heart Clinic on Wheels’, a mobile cardiac diagnostic unit equipped with advanced investigation facilities to reach remote communities.
The foundation also runs a ‘School Health Initiative’ focused on screening children for congenital and acquired heart ailments and collaborates with Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs to monitor and improve cardiac treatment at the community wellness centres.
