Srinagar: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education Sakeena Itoo on Friday visited JVC Hospital Bemina to review patient care services, inspect healthcare facilities and inquire about the health condition of injured journalist Ubaid Malik.

During the visit, the Minister conducted a comprehensive inspection of various departments of the hospital and reviewed medical services, infrastructure, sanitation, healthcare delivery systems and patient management.

She interacted with patients, attendants, doctors, paramedical staff and hospital administrators to obtain first-hand feedback regarding treatment facilities, availability of medicines, diagnostic services and overall functioning of the hospital.

Emphasising the government’s commitment towards strengthening public healthcare infrastructure, Sakeena Itoo directed hospital authorities to ensure efficient patient care, timely medical attention, improved sanitation and smooth functioning of all departments. She also urged healthcare workers to maintain dedication and compassion while dealing with patients.

The Minister appreciated the efforts of doctors and healthcare staff and assured that all genuine requirements of the hospital would be addressed on priority.

During the visit, Sakeena Itoo also met injured journalist Ubaid Malik and reviewed the treatment being provided to him. She directed doctors to ensure advanced medical care and round-the-clock monitoring for his speedy recovery.

The Minister interacted with Malik’s family members and assured them that the government would ensure the best possible treatment. Hospital authorities informed her that the journalist’s condition is being closely monitored and all necessary medical interventions are underway.

Ubaid Malik was injured after a tree fell on him in Tangmarg on Wednesday.

Principal SKIMS Medical College, Medical Superintendent JVC Hospital Bemina, faculty members and senior officers of the Health Department were also present during the visit.
