In Anantnag too, during a joint anti-encroachment drive conducted at Gawran Larnoo, Police along with Revenue and Forest departments demolished two “illegal” shop structures belonging of two “notorious” drug peddlers — Asif Ali Pala and Nisar Ahmad Kasana, both residents of Mathindoo, Larnoo.

The action was taken after it was established that the said structures had been illegally constructed by encroaching upon forest land at Gawran, a police spokesperson informed.

Meanwhile in Srinagar, police have attached a residential house along with land worth approximately ₹1.20 crore belonging to a “notorious” drug peddler Adil Manzoor Bhat alias Watson, a resident of Pamposh Colony, Noorbagh, Srinagar, who is involved in Case FIR No. 48/2022 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Safakadal. The accused is presently on bail granted by the court, police said.

It said the attachment has been carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, after obtaining due approval from the competent authority, SAFEMA, New Delhi.

Authorities also demolished an illegal structure allegedly raised by a drug peddler on state land in Samba district.

Officials said that Abdul Habib alias Bheem, a resident of Ladana in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district, was presently residing in an illegally built structure in Badheri Nanke Chak in Samba district.

The structure was demolished in a joint operation by administration and police, they said.

They said the accused is a notorious drug peddler and is presently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal under the PITNDPS Act.

According to police, Habib is involved in five cases registered under the NDPS Act in various police stations in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
