8 vehicles seized in mining crackdown in Baramulla, Awantipora

SRINAGAR: Police continued their crackdown against illegal mining and traffic violations in Baramulla and Awantipora districts, seizing eight vehicles during separate enforcement actions on Sunday.

In Baramulla, Police Station Chandoosa carried out multiple enforcement actions in the Chandoosa area as part of its sustained drive against illegal mining and traffic violations.

During naka checking, police seized two tippers and one dumper involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of stones and sand. Action against the vehicles was taken under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.

In a separate action, one tipper without valid documents was also seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Further intensifying the drive against violators of the Motor Vehicles Act, Police Station Chandoosa also seized two four-wheeler vehicles and one motorcycle under Section 207 of the MV Act for violation of legal transport norms.

Meanwhile, in Awantipora, Police Station Khrew seized two tippers during patrolling and checking at Mandakpal Khrew. The vehicles were found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

Police said a case FIR No. 41/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khrew and further investigation has been taken up.
