Director DIPR reviews functioning of DICs in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations Jammu and Kashmir Shreya Singhal on Thursday reviewed the functioning and performance of District Information Centres (DICs) across the Kashmir division and stressed the need for strengthening grassroots public outreach.

The review meeting also assessed activities being carried out by the department under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan.

Addressing officers during the meeting, Shreya Singhal said District Information Centres play a vital role in disseminating government policies, welfare schemes and developmental initiatives among the public in an effective and timely manner.

She directed officers to improve coordination with district administrations and ensure prompt coverage of government programmes and policies.

Highlighting the growing importance of digital communication, the Director asked District Information Officers to adopt innovative communication strategies and maximise the use of digital and social media platforms for wider public engagement.

Reviewing the department’s anti-drug awareness activities, she stressed the need for sustained campaigns to combat substance abuse and promote a healthy and informed society.

She directed officers to intensify Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities in educational institutions, rural areas and urban centres through seminars, awareness programmes, cultural activities and social media outreach.

The Director also appreciated the efforts of the department in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and called for greater community participation to make the campaign more effective and result-oriented.

Among those present were Joint Director Information Headquarters Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Joint Director Information Kashmir Shahnawaz Bukhari, Deputy Director Information (PR/AV) Javid Ahmad Rather, Deputy Director Information Srinagar Mohammad Rafiq, Deputy Director Headquarters Srinagar Zubair Ahmad, Cultural Officer Burhan Hussain and District Information Officers from across Kashmir division.
