SRINAGAR: State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Tuesday attached immovable property belonging to a Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK)-based operative of the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in connection with a major narco-terror case under investigation.

The action pertains to FIR No. 03/2023 registered at the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) police station. Officials said the case was initially registered by ANTF and later transferred to SIA Kashmir for specialised investigation after terror financing and cross-border narco-terror links surfaced during the probe.

According to SIA, investigations revealed that accused Zameer Ahmad Lone, son of Ahmad Gul Lone and a resident of Mandiyan Keran in Kupwara, is presently operating from PoJK and was actively involved in narco-terror activities aimed at disturbing peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir.

The agency stated that the accused had earlier been declared a proclaimed offender by a competent court for evading arrest and continuing anti-national activities from across the border.

Following an application filed by SIA Kashmir, the competent court ordered attachment of the accused’s property after examining the material placed before it.

Acting on the court orders, SIA attached immovable property measuring 1 Kanal and 14.37 Marlas under Khasra No. 113 located at Mandiyan Keran in Kupwara district.

Officials said the attachment proceedings were carried out by a specialised SIA team in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and revenue officials in accordance with legal procedures.

The agency further said that a detailed charge sheet had already been filed before the competent court after uncovering evidence related to narco-smuggling, terror financing and cross-border terror links.

SIA Kashmir said the action reflects its resolve to dismantle terror financing and narco-terror ecosystems operating from across the border.

The agency reiterated its commitment to identifying and taking strict legal action against individuals and entities involved in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty, integrity and security of the country.

Officials also stated that under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Jammu and Kashmir authorities are intensifying efforts to combat drug abuse and dismantle narcotics networks linked to terrorism through coordinated action and awareness initiatives.
