KULGAM: Authorities on Tuesday carried out a demolition drive against an alleged drug peddler in Tantarypora area of Yaripora as part of the ongoing crackdown on narcotics networks in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The drive was conducted jointly by teams of the Revenue Department and Police in an effort to curb drug abuse and dismantle illegal infrastructure linked to narcotics activities.
Officials said strict action will continue against individuals involved in drug peddling and reiterated the administration’s commitment towards building a drug-free society. Locals were also urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
In a separate action, district authorities retrieved property allegedly acquired illegally by a drug peddler in the Arreh area of Kulgam.
According to officials, the accused, Irfan Ahmed Raina, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Raina and a resident of Mohammadpora, Arreh, is involved in FIR No. 34/2025 registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kulgam. He is presently lodged in Mattan Jail.
The retrieved property comprises orchard land measuring 1 Kanal and 3 Marlas under Survey No. 887 situated in Estate Arreh at village Mohammadpora.
Officials said the retrieval operation was carried out jointly by Police Kulgam, the Tehsildar Kulgam and other revenue officials after completing legal formalities under the relevant provisions of law.
Authorities stated that such actions will continue as part of intensified efforts to tackle the drug menace in the district.
