Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: DC inaugurates football, cricket tournaments in Kulgam

Kulgam: Deputy Commissioner DC Kulgam on Tuesday inaugurated an Inter Block/Municipal Committee (MC) Football Tournament at the Sports Stadium Kulgam under the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the initiative aims to engage youth in sports and provide a platform to showcase their talent. He emphasized that such constructive activities are vital in steering young people away from drug abuse and towards a healthier future.

He added that the tournament is designed to identify grassroots talent and create opportunities for players to excel at district and national levels. The DC also assured that sports infrastructure across the district will be strengthened, with plans to upgrade sports grounds.

Officials informed that teams from all blocks and municipal committees, including a team from the district administration, are participating in the tournament.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Viqar Ahmad Giri, Tehsildar Kulgam and a large number of sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also inaugurated an Inter Block/MC Cricket Tournament at Khudwani Sports Stadium under the same campaign.

The inaugural cricket match was played between District Administration XI and Qaimoh XI, with District Administration XI emerging victorious.
