The case pertains to the construction of six illegal structures at Jawhar Nagar, Gonikhan, Hari Singh High Street and Wazir Bagh areas of Srinagar without obtaining valid building permissions from the competent authority. Investigations revealed that the constructions were carried out in alleged connivance with officials of SMC Srinagar.

The ACB stated that the investigation, based on oral and documentary evidence, substantiated the charges against four public servants and seven private beneficiaries. The probe established a conspiracy between the accused officials and beneficiaries in facilitating the illegal constructions.

After obtaining the required sanction for prosecution of the public servants from the government, the chargesheet was formally filed before the court for judicial determination.

The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for June 16, 2026.
