Srinagar: Police on Monday said it has arrested four drug peddlers in Sopore and Baramulla in separate actions.
Sharing details, a police spokesperson informed that Danish Akbar Bhat of Harwan was arrested at Chetkak Road Tujjar Shareef after a bag containing psychotropic substances — Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus capsules — was recovered from his possession.
At Hadipora, a vehicle (JK05C-7422) with two persons on board was intercepted. During the search, cannabis-like substance was recovered from its occupants — Iqbal Majeed and Abdul Qayoom Dar, both residents of Hadipora.
In Baramulla, a police party intercepted a Scorpio vehicle (JK05M-6306) at GEP (Gulmarg Entry Point). During search, three grams of a psychotropic substance (Methaqualone), commonly known as Qualudes or Mandrax was recovered from the possession of its driver Muneer Ahmad Sheikh of Lawaypora Srinagar. The vehicle was also seized.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigation, police said.
