DIG NKR Bla reviews security, crime scenario during Sopore visit

Sopore: Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range Baramulla, Dr. Vinod Kumar on Sunday visited Police District Sopore and chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the prevailing security and crime situation in the area.

The meeting was attended by SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib, along with Additional SP Sopore, SDPOs, DySP Operations and SHOs of the district. The visit marked the DIG’s first field inspection of Police District Sopore after assuming charge of North Kashmir Range.

During the meeting, a detailed review of the overall security scenario, crime trends and ongoing operations was carried out. The DIG laid special emphasis on maintaining a robust security grid, strengthening intelligence gathering mechanisms and ensuring a prompt and effective response to emerging challenges.

He also reviewed the progress of investigations in key cases, including those registered under the NDPS Act and other serious crimes. Officers were directed to ensure quality investigation, timely completion of cases and effective prosecution to strengthen the justice delivery system.

Stressing the importance of coordination, the DIG called for enhanced synergy among all police units, increased vigilance and sustained efforts to curb crime and maintain law and order across the district. He also underscored the need for greater public engagement and community-oriented policing to build trust and confidence among citizens.

The officers were further instructed to continue focused enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, alongside proactive measures to ensure peace, stability and public confidence in the region.
