Anantnag: At least six residential houses were destroyed in a fire incident in the Halse Dar area of Trajan in Doru locality of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district late Wednesday night, leaving several families homeless.
Officials said the blaze broke out in the locality and spread rapidly, engulfing multiple structures before it was brought under control.
According to reports, four of the affected households belong to Gujjar families, while two belong to Kashmiri families. All the families are stated to be from economically weaker sections.
The fire caused extensive damage, reducing the houses to rubble and leaving the occupants without shelter.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained.
Authorities have started assessing the damage, while locals have sought immediate relief and rehabilitation for the affected families.
The incident has raised concern in the area, with calls for urgent assistance to those who have lost their homes. (KNT)
