Baramulla: Police in Baramulla on Monday concluded the grand finale of a Girls Cricket Tournament at Showket Ali Stadium, reiterating their commitment to youth engagement and a drug-free society.
Organised under the Civic Action Programme and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the tournament is part of ongoing efforts to channelise youth energy towards constructive activities. The final match, played between Kashmir Knights and Royal Stars, witnessed high enthusiasm and competitive spirit, with Kashmir Knights emerging victorious in a closely contested encounter.
The event was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla as the chief guest, who felicitated the players with cash prizes and trophies. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the participants for their commendable performance and highlighted the role of sports in shaping disciplined and confident youth.
Reiterating the anti-drug message, the SSP urged young people to stay away from substance abuse and actively participate in sports and other positive pursuits. He noted that Baramulla Police has been consistently organising sports tournaments across disciplines, with a special focus on encouraging girls’ participation.
He further assured that more such initiatives will be held in the future to empower youth, particularly young girls, and provide them with platforms to showcase their talent.
Among others present on the occasion were IC DySP HQ Tariq Ahmad, SHO Baramulla, SHO Sheeri, IC PP Deina and Old Town Baramulla, along with other civil officers.
