NC alleges PDP enabled BJP win in Rajya Sabha polls after RTI disclosure

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Tuesday accused the Peoples Democratic Party of political duplicity, claiming that an RTI disclosure has exposed its alleged role in enabling the Bharatiya Janata Party to secure a seat in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.

Reacting to the disclosure, JKNC State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said the findings have raised serious questions over the PDP’s conduct during the polls. He alleged that the PDP was the only political party in Jammu and Kashmir that failed to appoint a chief election agent to monitor voting.

“In a contest of such significance, the absence of a polling agent from a major political party is not just negligence—it raises serious questions about PDP’s claims of being pro-Kashmiri. The outcome, where the BJP secured the seat despite lacking the required numbers, now appears far from coincidental,” he said.

Imran Nabi Dar further claimed that the revelations, brought out through the Right to Information Act, indicate where the BJP’s additional support came from. “This is no longer a matter of coincidence. The facts have emerged through an institutional mechanism, exposing the real source of support that enabled the BJP’s victory,” he added.

Lambasting what he termed as PDP’s “hollow anti-BJP rhetoric,” he alleged that the party has consistently misled the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “On one hand, they claim to oppose the BJP publicly; on the other, their actions strengthen the same party in Parliament. This reflects the same opportunistic politics seen during the 2014 PDP-BJP alliance,” he said.

He further asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve transparency and clarity, urging the PDP leadership to respond to the allegations rather than resorting to what he described as political theatrics.

“The mask has now fallen. The people can clearly see who stands where,” he added.
