Budgam: A woman from Shopian died after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident on the Chrar-e-Shareef Road in Budgam, while her fiancé remains hospitalised, officials said on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Nida Nisar. She and her fiancé were travelling in a car when the vehicle reportedly went out of control and plunged into a deep gorge, suffering extensive damage.
Locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, where Nida Nisar succumbed to her injuries. The man continues to receive treatment for injuries sustained in the accident.
The exact cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation. (KNT)
