Srinagar: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya and Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, IT and Science & Technology Satish Sharma on Saturday led the “Sundays on Cycle – Special Edition (Chintan Shivir 2026)” event in Srinagar, promoting fitness, environmental sustainability and a healthier lifestyle.
The cycling rally, organised as part of the ongoing Chintan Shivir activities, witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth, sports enthusiasts, government officials and members of civil society. The event commenced from the Police Golf Course Srinagar and concluded at the Royal Springs Golf Course, symbolising a collective commitment towards building a fit and active society.
Addressing participants, the ministers highlighted the importance of initiatives like “Sundays on Cycle” in fostering a culture of fitness and environmental responsibility. They noted that cycling not only improves physical well-being but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable living.
The leaders emphasised that the government is focused on strengthening sports infrastructure and encouraging greater participation in physical activities, particularly among youth in rural and border areas. They added that such initiatives align with the broader vision of “Viksit Bharat,” aimed at nurturing a healthy and vibrant population.
Dr. Mandaviya and Satish Sharma also interacted with participants, appreciating their enthusiasm and commitment towards adopting healthier lifestyles. They urged citizens to make cycling a regular habit and actively contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.
The event concluded with participants taking a pledge to embrace fitness and contribute to nation-building through sustainable practices.
