Police said the six were allegedly involved in instigating unrest, indulging in vandalism, and attempting to disturb peace during the protest, posing a serious threat to public order and safety.

The statement said that the individuals were detained under PSA after obtaining necessary detention warrants from the competent authority, and have been lodged in District Jail Bhadarwah.

Reiterating a policy of “zero tolerance” towards unlawful activities, police said that more individuals involved in the incident are being identified and may face similar legal action, including detention under the PSA.

Police also warned that any attempt to exploit sensitive situations or disturb public order will invite strict action under law.

Appealing to the public, especially youth, police urged them to stay away from unlawful activities and not fall prey to instigation by anti-social elements. Parents and community leaders were also advised to guide young people towards constructive engagement.

The statement added that police appreciate the continued cooperation of citizens in maintaining normalcy and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring peace, security, and stability in the area.
