Jammu: The administration has constituted a five-member enquiry committee to probe allegations regarding the Block Development Office (BDO) in Nowshera, officials said on Thursday.

The action was taken after some contractors alleged that bills worth lakhs of rupees have been deleted by the BDO in the last one to two years.

According to an official order issued by the Assistant Commissioner Development of Rajouri, Auqil Novaira, the move comes in response to a news story highlighting certain allegations related to the functioning of the BDO office in Nowshera.

“It has become imperative to verify the veracity of the said allegations and to ascertain the factual position through a fair, transparent and time-bound enquiry,” the order stated.

The committee comprises Sumeet Singh, BDO Sunderbani; Mohd Abrar, BDO Qila Darhal; Nand Kishore, Assistant Engineer, Sunderbani sub-division; Nitish Raina, Junior Engineer, Sunderbani; and Vikas Sharma, Panchayat Assistant, Qila Darhal.

The panel has been tasked with conducting an in-depth and objective examination of the matter and submitting a detailed report, along with specific findings and recommendations, within seven days from the date of issuance of the order, it said.

The order further directs the BDO Nowshera to extend full cooperation to the committee and provide all relevant records and documents to ensure a smooth and expeditious enquiry process.

Further action will be taken based on the committee’s findings, it added.
