Srinagar: Kashmir Police chief V K Birdi on Thursday chaired a coordination meeting with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) for the annual Amarnath Yatra and stressed the need for meticulous planning, with particular emphasis on logistical coordination, route security, and robust emergency response mechanisms.

Birdi, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, chaired a coordination meeting with officers of CAPFs at the PCR Kashmir here to strengthen security arrangements for the upcoming yatra that is scheduled to begin in the first week of July, a police spokesman said.

He said the meeting was attended by senior officers of the police, Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, traffic, security and CID wings, and the Railway Police.

Stressing the importance of inter-agency synergy, Birdi directed officers to formulate integrated and coordinated plans in close collaboration with CAPFs and other stakeholders.

A comprehensive review of the preparedness framework was undertaken, focusing on effective coordination among all stakeholders and the importance of clear communication channels, the spokesman said.

He said Birdi emphasised strengthening joint operational mechanisms and ensuring that all agencies remain aligned and prepared to respond promptly to any emerging situation.

During the meeting, the IGP Kashmir also reviewed the preparedness for the upcoming Darbar Move and instructed officers to ensure all arrangements are in place for the annual relocation of offices, focusing specifically on security measures, traffic regulation and the seamless transit of personnel and official records.

Under the Darbar Move practice, Jammu and Kashmir will shift the seat of governance to the summer capital here, and the offices will reopen here on May 4.

The J&K Police reaffirms its steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety, security and well-being of all pilgrims and the general public, to facilitating a peaceful and incident-free conduct of the Amarnath Yatra, and the smooth and secure execution of the Darbar Move, the spokesman said.
