Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that in Anantnag, acting on a specific tip-off, police raided the residential house of Farooq Ahmad Wani of Nowbugh Veeri Bijbehara. During the search, 371 grams of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from the premises. The accused was arrested on the spot, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
In Sopore, a police party intercepted and later arrested Farhad Yousef Mir in Hygam after his personal search yielded contraband cannabis-like substance.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation initiated, police said.
