Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Handwara, Kupwara and Budgam, a police spokesperson informed Wednesday.
He said at Gundchobutra Crossing, police arrested Umar Hamid Malla of Malbagh Kralgund. During search, a “substantial quantity” of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession, police said.
At Wayen, Kupwara, police arrested two drug peddlers — Shaqeeq Ahmad Khan and Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, both residents of Halmatpora, and recovered a “substantial quantity” of heroin-like substance from their possession. Police said preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused were engaged in illicit drug trafficking activities.
In Budgam, police have apprehended Nazir Ahmed Bhat of Hardusuresh Khag near Eidgah Road, Bachipora Mazhama and recovered approximately 155 grams of cannabis-like contraband substance from his possession.
Cases have been registered at respective police stations in all the incidents and investigation initiated.
