Zone Chandanwari witnessed the highest participation, with 210 students taking part on the third day of competitions. Chess and table tennis events for both boys and girls were conducted, reflecting the increasing interest of students in indoor sports.

Meanwhile, Zone Kunzer hosted inter-school chess competitions for boys in the Under-14 and Under-17 categories, where 72 students participated.

Officials said the events across all zones were conducted under the supervision of field staff and were marked by discipline, sportsmanship and enthusiasm among the participants.

Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Baramulla, said the competitions are being organised in accordance with the annual calendar issued by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir.

He said such activities help in identifying and nurturing talent among young students and provide them with a platform to compete at higher levels. The competitions are set to continue in other zones of the district in the coming days to ensure wider participation and identification of talent at the grassroots level.
