Srinagar: Sopore Police on Wednesday said that five more persons have been arrested in connection with the disruption of a recent student protest at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore, taking forward its ongoing crackdown against those allegedly involved in the disturbances.
According to police, the latest arrests were made during night-long raids conducted in different areas of Sopore. The arrested persons are accused of infiltrating what police described as a peaceful protest by students and creating law and order problems, including vandalism and damage to public property.
Police said that 13 more persons have been identified for their alleged involvement in the incident and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
“The raids and search operations shall continue till all such elements are brought to justice,” a police spokesperson said.
The fresh arrests come a day after Sopore Police had announced the arrest of eight persons in connection with the same incident.
