Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Tuesday handed over advanced diagnostic equipment, including three Truenat machines and a handheld AI-based X-ray unit, to major hospitals in the district to strengthen tuberculosis screening and testing.
The equipment was distributed at a function held at the DC Office Complex in Srinagar. The three Truenat machines, sponsored by Indian Oil Corporation Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, were handed over to the Medical Superintendents of Super Speciality Hospital, Children Hospital and the District Tuberculosis Office Srinagar.
The advanced machines and AI-enabled handheld X-ray unit are expected to significantly improve early detection of tuberculosis and strengthen treatment outcomes in the district.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also felicitated senior officers of the district administration, Block Development Officers and healthcare workers for helping 21 gram panchayats in Srinagar district achieve TB-Free Panchayat status.
Addressing the gathering, Akshay Labroo urged healthcare personnel to continue their efforts under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and assured full support from the district administration for sustaining and expanding the achievements.
He also thanked Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India for supporting the initiative through their CSR programmes by providing advanced diagnostic equipment.
District Srinagar has emerged as one of the few districts in the country to receive Gold Status under the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative, with all 21 gram panchayats in the district attaining the distinction.
Among those present at the event were Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats Sakhi Khan, BDO Harwan Mohammad Muqsit, BDO Qamarwari Saima Ahad, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tahir Sajad, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Abdul Rouf, Assistant Director TB DHSK Dr Afshana Bano, State TB Officer Kashmir Dr Basra Mir, BMO Hazratbal Dr Abdul Majeed, Zonal Medical Officers and other officials associated with the programme.
