The DDC also flagged off a road safety rally from the college campus to the SP Office, Kulgam.

During the rally, students carried banners, placards, helmets, and awareness pamphlets to disseminate the message of road safety among the public. Helmets were distributed free of cost to riders found without protective gear, and they were sensitized about the importance of wearing helmets. Additionally, road safety pamphlets were distributed among the general public to enhance awareness.

The speakers emphasised that adherence to traffic rules, use of helmets and seatbelts, avoidance of rash driving, and respect for pedestrians are essential to minimise road accidents and save lives.

The programme concluded with successful culmination of rally and a renewed commitment from students and staff to act as ambassadors of road safety in society.

Earlier, a awareness programme was held in the conference Hall of the college and witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, NCC and NSS volunteers, non-teaching staff, and students from different departments.

Dr. Showkat Ahmad, ARTO Kulgam, delivered an insightful awareness lecture on traffic discipline, responsible driving, the use of helmets and seatbelts, and the importance of safeguarding precious human life on roads.

Road safety awareness videos were also screened during the session, which greatly enhanced students’ understanding of traffic rules and accident prevention measures.

During the event, students who secured first positions in various inter-college competitions of the Road Safety Awareness Programme were felicitated.
