Jammu: The Cyber Police Station Jammu disposed of 11 cases and over 1,200 cyber fraud-related complaints during the first quarter of 2026, successfully saving around Rs 3.52 crore siphoned off by fraudsters, police said on Saturday.

Five accused from different states were also arrested in coordinated operations, marking a significant push against cybercrime, a police spokesperson said.

He said a total of 11 cases and 1,259 complaints were disposed of between January 1 and March 31, saving an amount of Rs 3,51,76,914 siphoned off by the fraudsters. The cases solved include five from the backlog.

Multiple complaints received through the grievances portal were also closed during this period, the spokesperson said.

In addition, 42 missing mobile phones worth Rs 8.4 lakh were recovered during the same period.

As many as 23 awareness programmes were conducted to educate the public on cyber safety, and 10 students from Central University underwent an internship at the Cyber Police Station, Jammu, gaining practical exposure to cyber policing, the spokesperson said.

He said there has been an exponential rise in cyber scams, specifically those involving “digital arrests,” AI-driven voice cloning, and investment fraud.

“Citizens are urged to remain vigilant, as scammers are impersonating law enforcement agencies to create panic and steal money,” the spokesperson said.

“In case of any cyber fraud, immediately report to the national helpline (1930) within the ‘golden hour’ to maximise chances of freezing the funds or file a complaint on the official government portal (cybercrime.gov.in),” he said.
