Srinagar: The government on Tuesday dismissed as misleading the claims circulating on social media regarding the alleged paper leak in the Fire Services recruitment examination.

In a clarification, the authorities said certain social media platforms, particularly a handle named “J&K Services Selection Board Aspirants”, were claiming that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had confirmed a paper leak and that action had been taken against only 106 candidates.

The government said these claims were not based on officially established facts.

“It is hereby clarified that the ACB has not confirmed any paper leak at this stage. The matter is presently under investigation and no final conclusions have been drawn by the competent authorities,” the clarification said.

The authorities said any assertion portraying the ongoing investigation as a confirmed finding was premature and inaccurate.

Regarding the claim that action had been taken against only 106 candidates, the government said the identification of candidates forms part of an ongoing and evolving investigative process.

It said administrative measures such as cancellation of candidature are being taken strictly on the basis of prima facie evidence available at a particular stage and in accordance with legal procedures.

“The action taken against a specific number of candidates should not be misconstrued as the investigation being limited in scope or excluding other possible findings,” the statement added.

The government advised aspirants and the general public to remain cautious and avoid relying on unverified information circulating on social media.

It said only official updates and communications issued by competent authorities should be treated as authentic.
