Farewell ceremony held for veteran teacher Abdul Hameed Rather in Kupwara

Kupwara: A simple yet heartfelt farewell ceremony was held at Government Primary School Panditpora in the Langate Education Zone of Kupwara district on Monday to honour veteran teacher Abdul Hameed Rather on his retirement from service.

Rather retired on March 31, 2026, after rendering 27 years of dedicated service in the education sector. The farewell function was organised by the school staff to express gratitude and respect for his long and committed career.

The programme began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Students, teachers and staff members shared their memories and experiences, recalling Rather’s contribution to academics and the overall development of the institution.

Speakers at the event described Abdul Hameed Rather as a disciplined, punctual and responsible teacher who remained committed to his duties throughout his career. They noted that he had served in various institutions across Zone Langate and had earned the respect and admiration of both colleagues and students.

The head of the institution, along with other members of the staff, appreciated his consistent efforts in strengthening the school environment and maintaining high standards of teaching and discipline.

Senior officials, including the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Langate, were also present on the occasion.

As a mark of respect and appreciation, Abdul Hameed Rather was presented with a bouquet and a traditional Kashmiri shawl. The gathering wished him a healthy, peaceful and happy post-retirement life.
