KULGAM: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today visited DH Pora Kulgam to pay rich tributes to former Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and former Minister, Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo, on his 32nd death anniversary.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister described Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo as a visionary statesman and a grassroots leader who devoted his life to the welfare and upliftment of the people, particularly those belonging to marginalised and rural communities. He said that the late leader’s commitment to inclusive development, communal harmony and democratic values continues to serve as a guiding force for present and future generations.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo played a pivotal role in strengthening democratic institutions and maintaining close engagement with the public to address their grievances effectively. He added that the Government remains committed to carrying forward the legacy of people-centric governance and equitable development envisioned by the late leader.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo paid glowing tributes to the late leader and remembered his invaluable contribution towards the socio-economic development of the region.
She said that Shaheed Wali Mohammad Itoo dedicated his life to empowering people through education, social justice and responsive governance.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma; Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani and other MLAs also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to the late Leader.
