Pulwama: Police solve theft case, recover stolen auto rickshaw

Pulwama: In a swift action, police in Pulwama have cracked a theft case within days of its reporting and recovered a stolen auto-rickshaw, officials said on Tuesday.

According to police, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Kakapora on March 14 by Mohd Noor Alam, a resident of Nagaon district in Assam, stating that his auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK04D-3791 had been stolen from Kakapora Chowk by unknown persons. Following the complaint, FIR No. 20/2026 was registered and investigation was set into motion.

Acting on a specific input, a police team apprehended a suspect identified as Yawar Ahmad Shaksaz, a resident of Karnabal Samboora. During questioning, the accused confessed to the theft, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle at his instance.

During further investigation, the accused also revealed his involvement in another theft case. Police said that he, along with an accomplice identified as Amir Ahmad Sofi of Astan Mohalla Kakapora, had stolen batteries from vehicles parked in the Okhoo area in July last year. Acting on this disclosure, police recovered some of the stolen batteries.

Police said further investigation into the case is underway.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining law and order, J&K Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
