NIT Srinagar hosts BIS Workshop on MOS Devices, Antennas

Srinagar: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar organized a one-day workshop on “MOS Devices, Antennas, Their Applications, and the Role of BIS” under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) – ECE Student Chapter.

The workshop aimed to acquaint students with the fundamentals and applications of MOS device technology and antenna systems while highlighting the role of BIS in ensuring quality, safety, and reliability through national standards in engineering and technology.

The programme was coordinated by BIS–ECE Student Mentor Dr. Ashok Kumar under the guidance of Dr. G.R. Beigh, Head ECE Department.

During the sessions, Dr. Brajendra Singh Sengar delivered a lecture on MOS devices and solar cells, while also discussing the role of BIS in the electronics sector. Dr. Amit Kumar presented a detailed session on antennas, their applications, and the relevance of BIS standards in communication technologies.

Dr. Pramod Yadav from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering also attended the workshop as a special guest. While Student coordinators Harshita, Arfa, Lakshya, and Ansar Chaudhry assisted in the smooth conduct of the event.

In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanuajia, appreciated the initiative and said that such academic engagements play a crucial role in enhancing students’ understanding of emerging technologies.

He said that collaboration with national standard-setting bodies like BIS helps students align their technical knowledge with industry requirements and global standards.

Registrar Dr. Atikur Rehman also lauded the efforts of the ECE department and the BIS Student Chapter. He said workshops of this nature provide an important platform for students to interact with experts and gain practical insights into modern technological developments.

The workshop provided ECE students with practical insights into emerging electronic technologies and emphasized the importance of standardization in advancing innovation and maintaining quality in the engineering domain.
