DC Kulgam reviews arrangements for upcoming festivities

KULGAM: To review arrangements for the smooth celebration of Shab-i-Qadr, Navratras and Eid-ul-Fitr festivals in the district, the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, today convened a meeting of officers and prominent citizens of the district here at Mini-Secretariat Kulgam.

ADDC, Altaf Ahmad Khan; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Viqar Ahmed Giri; Joint Director Planning, Malik Suhail; ACD, Bilal Kamgar; ACR, Riyaz Ahmad Shah, senior officers of various departments, besides members of local management committees.

Threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements related to security, drinking water, power supply, first-aid, sanitation, checking of rates, fire tenders, repair of street lights, lifting of garbage, traffic, etc.

Necessary directions were issued to district heads of various departments to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective department during the festivals.

The DC instructed the Police Department to make sufficient security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the festive season.

Executive Engineer Jal Shakti was instructed to ensure regular supply of drinking water and to press tanker services wherever required, besides Executive Engineer KPDCL was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the festivals.

Stressing on maintaining cleanliness in the town and villages, the DC directed the CEO of MC and other concerned officials to take necessary steps and ensure proper cleanliness.

Keeping in view the festive season, concerned officers were directed to conduct extensive checking of the market to prevent any overcharging by the shopkeepers.

Traffic department was directed to deploy adequate number of traffic personnel at traffic jam prone areas to avoid any traffic congestion during the festival.
