Among those present to receive Saxena were Chief Secretary, Ashish Kundra; Director General of Police, Ladakh, Mukesh Singh; Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Romil Singh Donk; Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Shree Raam; BJP State President, Tashi Gyalson Khachu, along with representatives from various political, social and religious bodies. They extended their greetings and conveyed their best wishes to Shri Saxena as he prepares to assume the office of Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

Vinai Kumar Saxena is scheduled to take oath as the fourth Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh tomorrow, March 13, 2026, at 12:30 PM at the Arya Nagarjuna Auditorium Hall of the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS), Choglamsar. The oath of office will be administered by the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice Arun Palli.

Saxena will succeed Kavinder Gupta, who recently assumed charge as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, Vinai Kumar Saxena was accorded a warm farewell at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, by senior officials and well-wishers before his departure for Ladakh to assume his new responsibilities.

Several senior officials, political leaders and members of civil society groups gathered at the airport to accord a warm send-off to Saxena, while recalling their close association with him for the last four years. A Delhi Police contingent accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour to Saxena at the IGI Airport.

Saxena demitted the office of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor on 10th March 2026

Notably, Saxena’s tenure at Delhi is marked with several structural and policy reforms to optimise the functioning of the government organisations and precise on-ground execution of his vision that resulted in the creation of several open public green spaces, rejuvenation of polluted Yamuna floodplains, restoration of decaying heritage sites and a massive aesthetic upgrade of the National Capital.
