Srinagar: Urging people to avoid panic buying, the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Anshul Garg, said on Wednesday that the Kashmir division currently has stocks of fuel products, including LPG, diesel, and petrol for over fifteen days.

Speaking at a press conference here this evening, Garg said that consumers shouldn’t trust hearsay regarding the dearth of essentials, as the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs monitors supply levels on a day-to-day basis.

“The Kashmir division currently has stock of petrol and diesel products for over 15 days, while LPG stocks are for another 13 days. The division has storage capacity for up to 15–20 days when stocked at maximum levels,” the Div Com said.

Urging the public to rely only on official updates, Garg clarified that although certain restrictions have been imposed on commercial LPG, these do not affect domestic consumers, hospitals, or educational institutions, stressing that there is no LPG crisis in the region.

The Div Com said district administrations have activated control rooms and constituted squads to prevent hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities, warning that strict action will be taken against anyone found indulging in such activities.

Garg further said the government is maintaining a close watch on supply, especially during the ongoing holy month of Ramzan and ahead of Eid, and that market inspections have been intensified to ensure price control, quality of food items, and uninterrupted availability of essential commodities across the valley.
