Police urge restraint, warn of action against miscreants

Kashmir Zone Police on Monday appealed to the public to maintain peace and exercise restraint in view of recent developments in the Middle East.

In a post on X, police said while citizens have the right to peacefully express themselves through lawful means, incidents of rioting, stone-pelting, clashes and disruption of public order at some places are unacceptable.

The police said violence and destruction of property lead to injuries, loss of life and often result in restrictions, closure of educational institutions and hardships for families, traders, students and daily wagers.

Appealing to all sections of society to refrain from provocation and unlawful activities, police warned that strict legal action will be taken against instigators and those involved in disturbances.

Authorities, the police added, remain committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting life and property.
