Gulmarg (Baramulla): The Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg, on Wednesday concluded its fifth 14-day Snow Skiing and Method of Instruction (MOI) Course for the 2025–26 training season, with a graduation ceremony held at the institute campus.
The course drew participation from winter sports enthusiasts and trainees from various parts of the country, highlighting the institute’s continued role in promoting professional training and excellence in snow skiing in India.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurenderpal Singh (IPS), attended the function as the chief guest and distributed certificates and prizes among the successful trainees.
A total of 96 candidates completed the course, including 72 in the Basic category, 9 in Intermediate, 6 in Advanced and 8 in the Method of Instruction (MOI) programme.
Addressing the participants, the SSP congratulated the trainees on completing the programme and encouraged them to continue pursuing winter sports with dedication. He observed that securing admission to IISM courses through the online registration process is highly competitive due to limited seats and the large number of applicants.
“If you have the passion to learn something, you will definitely succeed,” he said, extending his best wishes to the trainees for their future endeavours.
Officials said the successful conduct of the programme reflects the institute’s sustained efforts to strengthen winter sports culture in the country and to provide structured, high-quality training in skiing and related disciplines.
The institute, they added, continues to serve as a major training hub for aspiring winter sports athletes and instructors, while also contributing to the growth of adventure tourism and professional skill development in the Kashmir Valley.
