Handwara: Bringing pride to north Kashmir’s border district Kupwara, Yasmeena Auyoob, daughter of Mohammad Auyoob Bhat from Bicherwara Kralgund in Handwara, has secured the All-India 2nd rank in the UGC National Eligibility Test-Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF) in Urdu.
Yasmeena achieved the milestone in the UGC-NET examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the December 2025 and June 2025 cycles, qualifying for the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship with 99.9 percentile.
She completed her graduation from Women’s College Baramulla in 2020, securing first rank. Later, she pursued her Master’s degree in Urdu from the University of Kashmir, completing it in December 2022 with 74.5 percent marks. In 2023, she also qualified the JKSET examination and subsequently secured PhD admission at Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi.
Before qualifying for JRF, she had already cleared the UGC-NET in June 2025. Speaking about her success, Yasmeena said, “Success is all about hard work, determination, patience, consistency and sacrifice.”
According to official details, over 12 lakh candidates registered for the UGC-NET examination, which was conducted across 85 subjects at 837 centres in 239 cities across the country. The validity of the JRF award is three years, while the eligibility for Assistant Professor remains valid for a lifetime.
Her parents and family members congratulated her on the achievement, praising her dedication and perseverance. Yasmeena, in turn, expressed gratitude to her parents for their constant support, motivation and encouragement throughout her academic journey.
