Three drug peddlers arrested in Anantnag

Anantnag: Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers in separate incidents in Anantnag district and recovered significant quantities of contraband substances from their possession.

According to police, a team from Police Station Bijbehara apprehended a suspected drug peddler during a naka checking near Tulkhan Crossing. The accused was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wagay, son of Ali Mohammad Wagay and a resident of Naid Mohalla, Bijbehara. During the search, police recovered a charas-like substance weighing approximately 500 grams from his possession.

In another incident, a police party from PS Bijbehara conducting naka checking at Kerikadal apprehended Qaiser Jeelani Bhat, son of Abdul Kabir Bhat, a resident of Sallar Kullar. A brown sugar–like substance weighing 6.60 grams was recovered during the search.

In a third operation, acting on specific information received from a reliable source, police arrested Saboor Ahmad Haroo, son of Ghulam Nabi Haroo and a resident of Bijbehara. During the operation, police recovered a brown sugar–like substance weighing 9.27 grams from his possession.

Police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in all the incidents, and investigations have been initiated. The drive against drug trafficking will continue with strict action against those involved in the illegal narcotics trade, officials added.
