Addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma highlighted the immense contribution of Dogri language and literature in preserving the cultural identity of Jammu region. He said that regional languages are the soul of India’s pluralistic heritage and play a vital role in strengthening social harmony, national integration and cultural continuity.

The Minister emphasized that the government is fully committed to the promotion, preservation and propagation of indigenous languages through institutional support, literary platforms and youth engagement initiatives. He noted that programmes such as Rashtriya Kavi Sammelans not only honour the veteran litterateurs but also inspire the young writers to remain connected with their linguistic roots.

Satish Sharma stated that culture, language and literature are powerful instruments of social transformation and must be nurtured alongside development and technological progress. He stressed that the integration of culture with education, digital platforms and youth-centric programmes will further strengthen the reach and relevance of regional languages.

He assured continued government support for organizing national-level cultural events that provide exposure to local talent and encourage cultural exchange.

Renowned poets and Padma awardees presented captivating poetic recitations during the Sammelan, reflecting themes of patriotism, social awareness, unity and cultural pride. The programme formed an important component of the Republic Day celebrations commemorating 150 years of “Vande Mataram.”
