DC Srinagar reviews progress of key health sector schemes

SRINAGAR: In order to ensure timely and effective delivery of benefits under key health sector flagship schemes to citizens in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, today convened a meeting with senior health functionaries here at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner undertook a comprehensive Medical Zone/Block-wise review of citizen-centric health schemes, focusing on the progress of enrolment under the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), the status of coverage of eligible beneficiaries under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card and the implementation of Tuberculosis (TB) control and surveillance measures in the district.

While reviewing the status of enrolment of eligible senior citizens under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, the Deputy Commissioner called for mass awareness about the scheme and swift enrolment to enable senior citizens to avail the benefits of free and cashless healthcare services.

He emphasised that all eligible individuals aged 70 years and above must be covered under the scheme.

The DC directed Zonal/Block Medical Officers and other concerned officials to work with added zeal to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out.

On the occasion, it was informed that over 12,000 senior citizens in the district have been provided Ayushman Vay Vandana (AVV) cards, enabling them to avail additional free health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year.

The DC also reviewed zone-wise progress of the enrolment under the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), the DC stressed the need to accelerate registration drives to achieve comprehensive coverage target under the initiatives across the district.

Additionally, the DC also took stock of the progress under Tuthe berculosis (TB) control programme. He appreciated the District TB Control Team for achieving good progress and directed them to accomplish the remaining targets at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the DC emphasized the need to ensure better patient care facilities to patients in all health institutions across the district, keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions.

The meeting was among others attended by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar; Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tahir Sajad, Medical Superintendents of JLNM, SMHS and CD Hospitals, District Tuberculosis Officer, all Zonal Medical Officers and Block Medical Officer of Srinagar district.
