Rajouri: Security forces on Thursday recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing around three kilograms in Rajouri district, officials said.

The recovery was made during an anti-terror operation launched in Kakora village under the jurisdiction of Manjakote police station, they said.

Officials said that based on specific intelligence inputs, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kakora village.

During the operation, suspected material was recovered from a forest area, which was later examined by the Bomb Disposal Squad and found to be an IED, they said.

The IED, weighing around three kilograms, was destroyed through a controlled mechanism, they added.

Drug peddler held in Pulwama

Srinagar, Jan 15: Police in Pulwama arrested a drug peddler during at Circular Road near Tahab Chowk.

During checking, the police party intercepted and later arrested one Bilal Ahmad Ganaie, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganaie, resident of Chatapora, after Cannabis (charas choora-like substance) weighing 413.50 grams, one stick of cannabis weighing 36.5 grams, and 70 grams of cannabis power were recovered from his possession.

A case under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station for further investigation, police said.
