JAMMU: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, today attended the final match of the T20 Cricket Tournament at Gole Gujral, organised to commemorate the sacred martyrdom of the Chaar Sahibzaade.
On this occasion, the Minister paid glowing tributes to the Sahibzaades, describing their supreme sacrifice as a timeless source of inspiration for humanity, particularly for the youth, to uphold the values of truth, courage, and righteousness.
Interacting with players, spectators and organisers, Satish Sharma said that sports play a vital role in shaping the character of young people by promoting physical fitness, discipline, teamwork and leadership qualities.
Congratulating the winning team and appreciating the organisers for their efforts in promoting sports at the grassroots level, the Minister announced that the Mini Sports Stadium at Gole Gujral will be upgraded with modern, state-of-the-art facilities. He informed that the stadium will be equipped with a volleyball court, synthetic turf, an improved cricket pitch and solar lighting, transforming it into a vibrant hub for sporting activities and training.
The Minister said that the enhanced infrastructure would provide local youth and emerging sportspersons with better opportunities to hone their skills and compete at higher levels.
Reiterating the commitment of the Omar Abdullah-led Government, Satish Sharma said that special emphasis is being laid on strengthening sports infrastructure and encouraging youth participation in sports and allied activities across Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the government is determined to build a healthy, progressive and empowered generation through sustained investment in sports, technology and community development.
