BANDIPORA: District Employment & Counselling Centre, Bandipora, under the Directorate of Employment, J&K, organised a Women Entrepreneurship & SHG Mela at Government Degree College, Sumbal, to promote women entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
The event showcased stalls featuring homemade products, handicrafts, handloom items and start-up initiatives by women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups from across the district.
Member of Legislative Assembly, Sonawari Constituency, Advocate Hilal Akbar Lone presided over the event, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from women entrepreneurs, SHG members, students and the general public.
The mela also provided guidance and mentorship through expert interactions, encouraging women to explore sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA lauded the initiative, stating that empowering women through entrepreneurship is key to inclusive and sustainable development. He emphasized that platforms like the SHG Mela not only highlight local talent but also inspire confidence, innovation and economic independence among women, urging stakeholders to extend continuous support to women-led enterprises.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of Principal GDC Sumbal, District Programme Manager NRLM, Employment Officer Bandipora and other concerned officers.
