Bangkok (Thailand): Senior journalist Maneesh Chhibber, a native of Jammu, was on Sunday conferred the International Council of Jurists (ICJ) Award–2025 for Excellence in Journalism at a ceremony held in Bangkok.
The award was presented by ICJ President and former Supreme Court Bar Association President Adish C. Aggarwala in the presence of former Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Vijender Jain, former Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan Justice Awn S. Al-Khasawneh, and former High Court Judge V. P. Vaish, among other dignitaries.
According to the citation, Chhibber was honoured in recognition of his distinguished journalistic career across India’s leading news platforms, including The Indian Express, The Print, Tiranga News and The Wire. The citation highlighted his unwavering commitment to investigative reporting, incisive legal analysis, and nationally impactful scoops.
It made special mention of his recent exposé involving the recovery of burnt cash from a room linked to a then Delhi High Court judge, describing it as an example of journalism rooted in public interest and credibility. The citation also noted that Chhibber is widely cited by jurists and legal experts and is regarded as an authoritative voice on India’s higher judiciary.
Jurists and legal professionals from several countries attended the award ceremony, underscoring the international recognition accorded to Chhibber’s contribution to journalism.
