DC Baramulla kick-starts IPPI campaign at UPHC Baramulla

BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa today kick-started the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) campaign by administering polio drops to a child at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Baramulla.

The district-wide IPPI campaign aims to ensure 100 percent immunisation coverage of 1,63,587 children in the 0–5 years age group out of a total district population of 11,33,790.

For the successful conduct of the campaign, 2,07,755 OPV doses and 10,388 OPV vials have been arranged. A total of 849 Pulse Polio booths have been established across the district to facilitate easy access for beneficiaries.

The campaign is being implemented with the support of a dedicated workforce comprising 1,775 health workers, 1,293 ASHAs, 2,232 Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), and 170 supervisors, ensuring effective outreach, supervision, and monitoring.

The DC emphasized coordinated efforts among all stakeholders and appealed to parents and guardians to ensure that every eligible child is administered polio drops during the IPPI campaign. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to sustaining the district’s contribution towards a polio-free India.
