The Minister further informed that NHPC has three hydropower projects under the planning stage in Jammu and Kashmir, namely Uri-I Stage-II (240 MW) in Baramulla, Dulhasti Stage-II (260 MW) in Kishtwar, and Sawalkot (1,856 MW) in Ramban and Udhampur districts, with a combined planned capacity of 2,356 MW.

Highlighting the Government’s focus on renewable energy, the Minister said that under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a total of 16,212 rooftop solar systems have been installed in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir as on 11 December 2025. Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, the UT has been allocated 5,000 solar pumps, of which 3,601 pumps have been installed as on 30 November 2025.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with JKSPDC for the development of a 10 MW Solar Photovoltaic project in the UT, which is scheduled to be completed within 12 months of award of work, the minister added.
