Examines CAG’s Audit Paras of H&UDD

JAMMU: The Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today held a meeting under the Chairmanship of MLA Sham Lal Sharma to examine various Audit Paras pertaining to Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD).

Legislators, Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurezi), Balwant Singh Mankotia, Qaysar Jamshaid Lone, Javid Hassan Baig and Sajad Shaheen; members of the committee, Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD, Mandeep Kaur; Accountant General J&K, Tsewang Tharchin; Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Devansh Yadav; besides Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandit, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the CAG’s Audit Paras 3.3 and 4.2.3 (2006-07) and 3.12 (2014-15) pertaining to the Housing and Urban Development Department.

The Committee also reviewed the steps and action taken on CAG’s Audit Paras 8.5 (2000-01), 5.1 to 5.8 and 6.3 (2020-21), which have already been discussed by the Committee in its previous meeting held at the Assembly Complex, Srinagar.

Accountant General J&K, Tsewang Tharchin, briefed the Committee about the queries and present status of various audit paras pertaining to the H&UD Department.

Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) briefed the Committee about the action taken on the query raised in the CAG’s Audit paras of H&UDD.

The Chairman highlighted the main objectives and working of the Committee and directed the senior officers of H&UDD to clear all hurdles for improving work culture and accountability. He also asked for fixing responsibility to ensure visible and effective development is extended to the people living in urban areas.

The Chairman directed the concerned officers to submit a comprehensive, detailed report regarding Audit Para 6.3 (2020-21) within ten days so that the final decision could be taken in this regard.

The members of the Committee gave their valuable suggestions to make the Committee more fruitful and result-oriented. They also highlighted various issues pointed out in the CAG’s audit paras.

Among others, Director, Local Bodies Kashmir, Qazi Sarwar; Director, Local Bodies Jammu, Kapil Sharma; VC, SDA, Mohammed Rafi besides senior officers of H&UDD and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
